Calf Recording Details
How to record a calf:
1. Enter the dam's registration number
2. Enter the sire's registration number or click the drop down arrow and select a bull from the Sire Quick Pick List
3. Enter the calf's tattoo information and calf herd ID (no two animals in your herd can have the same herd ID)
4. Enter the date of birth (mm/dd/yy)
5. Select the service type using the AI and ET fields. Selecting Yes in the AI field for AI calves or No if it was a natural calf.
6. Select YES if the calf is ET or NO if it's natural or AI
7. If calf is an ET, enter the embryo recovery date and the recipient dam's registration number (Only enter a recipient dam's registration number if the recipient dam is a registered Hereford)
8. After entering the calf's dam, date of birth, and service information, the Breeder and Original Owner will be populated automatically.
If the calf's dam is multi-owned, the system will allow one breeder and original owner to be selected from a list of possible owners.
Click the drop down arrow to view/select the breeder and owner options.
9. Select the sex of the animal
10. Select Registered or Unregistered
11. Select the number in birth
12. Select the horn/polled/scurred status
13. Enter the name if the animal is going to be registered or the tattoo information for an unregistered animal.
14. TPR Member Only: Enter birth performance data
15. Click Complete Registration to complete
How to transfer a calf on entry:
1. While on the registration screen, click the Purchasers Details tab
2. Enter a transfer date
3. Check or Un-check the Cert to Buyer box
4. Select a member from your Personal List using the drop down arrow or Search for a member using their name, address, or member number and clicking Find.
5. Click on the desired member, so the row is highlighted
6. Then click Select Highlighted
Repeat steps 4 - 6 to add additional owners
Note: Remember if you want to maintain partial ownership you must click the Add Self As Part Owner button
Performance data at birth details
Calving Ease
A number score that determines the calving ease, ranging from 1-6. The score is required of Whole Herd TPR breeders
Birth Weight
The actual birth weight of the calf, measured in pounds within 24 hours of birth
Birth Group Code
This is based off the dam's birth management. If all cows were managed the same during gestation, leave the code box blank and AHA will assume the cows were managed equally.
Udder Suspension Score
A numerical score that determines the udder quality of the dam, ranging from 1-9. The score should be taken within 24 hours of calving.
Teat Size Score
A numerical score that determines the teat quality of the dam, ranging from 1-9. The score should be taken within 24 hours of calving.
